Active People, Healthy Hamilton County

The Friends of Hamilton County Parks Foundation is excited to announce our partnership with the Center for Disease Control in the Active People, Healthy Hamilton County campaign! We’re teaming up with our local municipalities to support recreational project opportunities that will make Hamilton County even better. We look forward to awarding the first Active People, Healthy Hamilton County Grant in April of 2025.

Youth Recreation Leader Scholarship

Friends of Hamilton County Parks looks forward to selecting multiple high school students to participate in the Youth Recreation Leader Scholarship program. Stay tuned for more information about this exciting opportunity.

Coxhall Gardens Centerpiece Fountain Refurbishment

The Friends of Hamilton County Parks Foundation provided the fund necessary for vital maintenance and repairs to the Coxhall Gardens’ Centerpiece.

2024

Coxhall Gardens Pond Fountains Repair

Friends of Hamilton County Parks provided funds to repair two pond fountains located within Coxhall Gardens.

The Williams Farmhouse Restoration

The Williams Farmhouse, built in 1865, is currently undergoing restoration in order to preserve its historic Italianate architecture. The Friends of Hamilton County Parks foundation helped launch the restoration initiative by donating $375,000.

2023

Coxhall Gardens Conservatory Feasibility Study

The Friends of Hamilton County Parks funded a feasibility study for a proposed conservatory and event space on the grounds of Coxhall Gardens.

Burr Oak Bend Land Transfer

In partnership with the Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department and Central Indiana Land Trust, Friends of Hamilton County Parks funded the transfer of Burr Oak Bend, and undeveloped 130 acre plot along the White River in Noblesville.

2022

Nonie Werbe Krauss Nature Preserve
Invasive Species Eradication

Friends of Hamilton County Parks funded eradication efforts to eliminate invasive callery pear trees from Fishers’ Nonie Werbe Nature Preserve. Central Indiana Land Trust took ownership of the preserve in 2006 and has made large strides in reforestation efforts on the property.

2021

The Outdoor Classroom

In 2020, Friends of Hamilton County funded the design process of an Outdoor Classroom featuring a pollinator garden and children’s recreational amenities at Coxhall Gardens. The Children’s Garden is now one of the most beloved features at Coxhall and has been detailed on numerous blogs and in local media.
